Rhythmus 08 - Cinema Paradiso
Last shot of Cinema Paradiso directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
This project is mainly about how emotional reaction can be visualized by using abstract imagery. Human being’s emotion is hard to be visualized because emotion itself is immaterial. However, emotion can be visualized by abstraction and many artists have proved it. I think, sometimes it can clear up what we want to to express rather than realistic stuff. I chose the last scene of Cinema Paradiso which is emotional and reflective, and it was coded into abstract imagery, created not by filter but by codec error, to show emotional status of main character and atmosphere in that place. Finally, I hope it can be another communication way in real life as Kandinsky or Richter did.
* This project was inspired by ‘Rhythmus 21’ made by Dada artist Hans Richter.
